How to be your own savior?

Do you know that our brain can be our biggest supporter? Basically, our brain contains 4 basic chemicals that are responsible for maintaining our lives happy, calm, and positive. These chemicals can help you in being your own savior. Think of this as your introduction or field guide on how these chemicals can affect our daily happiness.

Serotonin – Serotonin is responsible for regulating mood and promoting the feeling of well-being.

  • Exercise – Any kind of exercise may it be a long walk in your garden, some cycling session, or a long tiring workout at the gym, everything has proven to be a significant factor in the release of serotonin. However, before commencing any activity do make sure to consult your doctor.
  • Kidney-friendly eating – Eating foods that are proven to be good for kidneys and have little or no content of sodium, potassium, and phosphorus can help one stay physically and mentally fit.

Endorphins – Endorphins are the body’s natural painkillers. They subsequently help in overcoming stress and discomfort.

  • Mediate – A simple meditation can help boost your levels of energy and even your confidence. Regular meditation sessions have proven to be effective in the reduction of stress and have shown signs of improvement in the individuals mentally as well as physically.
  • Laughing – Exercises, diet, and meditation are one thing but one should never forget to laugh. The sense of being happy is one of the most important early steps in the betterment of oneself

Dopamine – Dopamine is also known as the feel-good hormone, as dopamine only gets released when you are happy.

  • Plenty of sleep – A minimum of 7 hours of sleep is advised for patients that are currently suffering from kidney disease so that their body can gain back its energy levels which directly makes your mood and morning fresh. Try to avoid the use of any kind of electronics at least one hour before your sleeping schedule
  • Listening to music/audiobooks – Do you realize how you enjoy some music while at the same time can’t stand the others? That’s because listening to music that you enjoy leads to the release of dopamine which directly increase your happiness levels and you start experiencing a positive sense of being.

Oxytocin – Oxytocin, just like any other happy chemical helps you feel positive.

  • Interact – Spending time with your friends and family has always been beneficial for oneself. Sharing a bite, watching a movie, playing games, to sharing a laugh together, everything helps in increasing your positive well-being.
